Beneath the Surface: What Rock Bottom Taught Me About the Importance of True Healing

Welcome back to The Anxiety Detox Digest, where we dig deeper into real stories and root causes to uncover lasting solutions to anxiety.

In this issue, I want to share something personal—because the journey to healing anxiety isn’t a straight line, and for many, it begins with one difficult but honest moment: hitting rock bottom.

For years, I lived in a cycle of anxiety. It came in waves—sometimes quiet, sometimes consuming. There were times I felt fine, even great, and then suddenly I’d be lying awake at night with my heart pounding, convinced something was physically wrong. I tried to manage it the way so many do—through therapy and medication—but nothing seemed to bring lasting relief.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I finally got serious about addressing my anxiety. Yes, I had a counselor, and yes, my primary care physician prescribed medication. But that didn’t mean everything was suddenly okay. What it really meant was facing the reality that multiple areas of my life were fueling the anxiety. I cycled through different medications, each one offering more side effects than relief. Some left me nauseated by the smell of food. One made my heart race instantly. I lost a dangerous amount of weight, dropping to around 105 lbs. My mental health was at its lowest—and I knew I needed a change.

As a single mother, I owed it to myself and my son to bounce back. To stop chasing quick fixes. To stop ignoring the signs. Our culture promotes instant gratification, but in the realm of mental health, that approach can backfire. Instead, I chose to start exploring what many call "alternative" methods—tools that are now the foundation of my Anxiety Detox Coaching Program.

I learned to let go of the pressure to be perfect and started cutting out the stressors in my life. You can do the same. You have the power to reshape your habits and reclaim control over your future.

In the next issue, I’ll introduce you to powerful real-life stories from other working mothers  who’ve confronted anxiety—and found ways to rise above it.

Action:

Start by identifying one area in your life that's causing the most stress, and commit to replacing it with a calming habit this week—whether it's a short walk, journaling, or refraining from watching the news.

As a Health and Life Coach, I developed the Anxiety Detox Coaching Program to help mothers identify their triggers, build coping strategies, and regain their confidence. Through mindset work, practical exercises, and ongoing support, mothers can break free from the cycle of temporary fixes and embrace lasting calm.

If you’re ready to explore sustainable solutions and find your path to lasting peace, you’re not alone. Let’s take the first step together.

Until then, stay calm, stay confident, and stay unstoppable.
